‘Hi Louise, just wanted to say thank you for a great morning. We thoroughly enjoyed it & you made us feel so at ease with everything. Thank you for accommodating our crazy request for horses & Lamborghini’s. A morning that will stay with us as part of our wedding memories forever!’
A morning that went a little something like this –
I headed up to my local hills in West Yorkshire early one morning to catch up with Katie & Mark for their pre wedding photography shoot. Not only are these two getting married in one of the best alternative venues West Yorkshire has to offer, The Arches at Dean Clough in Halifax, but it turned out they are practically my neighbors too, living just a stones throw from my home.
I love to capture something of peoples passions in my photography work, which is quite often a part of the little details, or a unique expression – all those things that just make you ‘you’. But sometimes you find those details are not so small. So when it was mentioned they would love to incorporate their passion for horses and cars into a pre wedding session, I said ‘sure, let’s do that’.
And so, up to the hills I went, where I was introduced to the lovely Teddy, who has been Katie’s horse now for 21 years. We took Teddy into the field where he lapped up the attention, loving having his nose blown on (is this a normal horsey thing?) and being spoiled with polo mint treats. After returning him to his stable, we headed up to some nearby moorland, where I could just capture just the two of them without any head butting interventions from a horse. Next up it was the cars turn. Mark had a Lamborghini on loan that day, with a lack of accessible Top Gear style moorland in proximity to our location we made do with a quick stop off at St. Ives in Bingley to end our session.
Katie & Mark were such a fun couple to work with, I’m not sure I’ve ever laughed so much during a pre wedding photography shoot! Which makes me look forward to capturing their wedding later this year even more than I already was. Literally can’t wait!
