Rosie and Joe booked me as photographer for my natural York wedding photography for their wedding, just a few weeks prior to their big day. They only wanted a few of hours of coverage, so none of the usual bridal preparation or first dance photos that I’d normally take. Instead it was simply the ceremony and a few photos of themselves and their guests to remember the day by.
It was a simple, lovely and intimate wedding day with just the closest of family and friends present coming to around forty guests. I’m all for doing things your own way on your wedding day and not having to stick to traditions and rules if you don’t want to. Even the smallest of original ideas make me smile. So having the bride in a coloured dress, the bride and groom walking down the isle together and bubbles instead of confetti all added to the delight and uniqueness of the day.
The ceremony was held at the York registry office. Rosie wore a beautiful navy blue dress instead of the traditional white and walked down the isle arm in arm with the groom and his widening grin. Both of them were in fits of giggles trying to put each others wedding rings on, eventually resorting to doing it themselves. To the delight of the children (and possibly all the adults too) this was followed with the blowing of bubbles in the office gardens in place of throwing confetti.
Once they had made sure that all of the bubbles had been popped then we walked in procession to the nearby York Museum Gardens and stopped for some photos of the couple while the guests made their way across to the opposite side of the park to the Star Inn The City, overlooking the river Ouse, for the reception. We then re-joined them, so I took a few snaps of the cake and the guests at the tables before my involvement ended. I went on my way, leaving this gorgeous couple to enjoy their York wedding celebrations with their nearest and dearest.
Rosie and Joe conveyed a thousand different faces of delight in the two hours that I was with them and they were the sweetest and most lovely couple to photograph. Here’s wishing them a happy ever after as husband and wife.
‘These are so lovely! Thank you! We had great fun looking through these last night, particularly the candid shots with lots going on in the background that we missed on the day. Such a wonderful job! The colours are all beautiful too. THANK YOU!’
